I wanted to post this clip from a band called Dredg, most of you haven't heard them likely and probably won't care but it's good stuff, start with "Jamais Vu", just listen to the feel/pulse of the hi hat and the spacing btw snare/bass/hat, the little fill-in's, the way he complements the mood of the song is perfect , I don't think for a minute many of today's "rock" drummers could lay something like that, well maybe Theodore from Mars Volta and Carey from Tool. The melodies, textures and orchestrations are superb, and they sound very tight for a LIVE band [img]wink.gif[/img]
PS- The title of the track is "Deja Vu" spelled backwards

I've actually seen them live here in Sacramento (they're kinda local I suppose) last summer. Great band, awesome musicians. Their latest album, El Cielo is quite good. Makes their album before that (leitmotif) sound like it was recorded in their garage.
Good tune, good drummer. I like the tunes texture. It has a very nice "atmosphere".

Is there a chorus in this song? Again I'm reminded of the episode of the Sopranos where the band that Christopher's g/f is being recorded and the producer wonders where the chorus is...
Even a band as mopey as the Cure wrote good songs. And had a great drummer.
Nice drumming...not so sure about the tune though. I think it may have to do with the singer who I think is the weakest link. I'll listen a few more times. As far as prog-esque stuff goes, The Mars Volta kicks anything else firmly in the arse right now. I just can't stop listening to it....

I havent 'killed' a recording on my CD player in a very long time. 'Deloused.....' transcends labels. Though i do tend 2 describe them with the words 'prog-like,but punkier' when converting my friends, which im having a great success rate at!!
Roy have u read about the artist that 'Deloused....' is based on????

I read what was on their site but haven't read more about the guy yet. The music seems to be the perfect match to what he's describing. Have you read those lyrics? Very dark. The 4:3 guitar part on track 2 kills me every time. They've also just released a live album which I'll have to get...
